Cameron's Search for a Cure.
J.D.M. Griffin
Abstract
In a recent issue of the Canadian Bulletin of Medical History, Dr. Robert A. Cleghorn has described the background, the personality, and the treatment programs of the late Dr. D. Ewen Cameron. Dr. Cleghorn, a member of Cameron's senior staff, succeeded him in 1964 as head of the McGill Department of Psychiatry and chief of the Allan Memorial Institute (AMI). There is no need therefore to expand further on this subject except to mention briefly the four books published in 1987-88 which provide more details about some of the individual patients who were involved as well as additional anecdotal material about Cameron himself and a great deal of information about the role played by the U.S. and Canadian governments in supporting Cameron's research.
